From the hush of the Sanctuary to the roar of the Atlantic, all in one day.
Some days stay with you long after the trip is over, and Rota da Fé is one of them. We begin in Fátima, where three shepherd children saw the impossible in 1917 and where, to this day, pilgrims from every corner of the world kneel at the Chapel of the Apparitions. We move on to the Batalha Monastery, a Gothic cathedral that took nearly two centuries to raise, with its lacework stone and the quiet of the royal tombs. And we end in Nazaré, perched above the Atlantic, where the giant waves have written themselves into surfing history and where you eat the freshest fish of the day. All at your own pace, no big group, no rushing, with a guide who knows these three stories by heart and is still moved telling them.
Times are approximate and we adapt to you.
We collect you at your Lisbon hotel in a private, air-conditioned SUV and head north.
Unhurried time at the Chapel of the Apparitions, the great square, and the Basilica, where Saints Francisco and Jacinta and Sister Lúcia rest.
A short drive through the green countryside to the monastery, with time for questions along the way.
The lacework facade, the Royal Cloister, the Founder's Chapel, and the Unfinished Chapels open to the sky.
We come down to the beach for a relaxed lunch of fresh fish by the sea (on your own).
Up to the Sítio viewpoint, with the lighthouse, Praia do Norte, and the stories of the waves that made Nazaré famous in the surfing world.
A stroll along the seafront, a coffee, or just the sea and the wind before we head back.
We drive back unhurried, while the day settles.
Door to door, the whole way.
