Armenia: Monasteries, Mountains and Memory

The world's first Christian nation, told stone by stone.

Armenia is not a country you rush through, it is one you listen to. Small on the map and vast in memory, it is a land where dark stone monasteries cling to the edge of gorges, where monks copied manuscripts for more than fifteen hundred years, and where Mount Ararat still fills the horizon, even from across a closed border. On this private journey you walk through churches carved into living rock, raise a glass of brandy and ancient-vine wine in Yerevan, and follow a story that begins long before the Europe we think we know. All of it at your pace, with a guide who knows not just the dates but the meaning behind them. No big group, no rushing, no itinerary you cannot change.

What makes this day special

The itinerary

Your experience, hour by hour

Times are approximate and we adapt to you.

Day 1

Arrival in Yerevan

We meet you at the airport and settle you into your hotel. In the evening, an unhurried first walk around Republic Square and the Cascade, just to feel the city breathe.

Day 2

Yerevan, up close

The Matenadaran and its illuminated manuscripts, the memorial at Tsitsernakaberd, and the covered market where dried fruit and spices tell their own version of the country's story.

Day 3

Garni and Geghard

The pagan temple of Garni above the gorge, then the rock-hewn monastery of Geghard. Lavash baked in the tonir and lunch in a family home.

Day 4

Khor Virap and Ararat

An early morning at Khor Virap with Ararat behind it, then on to the brick-red monasteries of Noravank at the end of a crimson canyon.

Day 5

Tatev and the south

The cable car ride out to Tatev monastery, suspended above the valley, and the time it takes to understand why monks chose this place.

Day 6

Lake Sevan and Dilijan

Sevanavank monastery above the great blue lake, then the forests of Dilijan and the stillness of Haghartsin among the trees.

Day 7

Farewell
